Terry for Marie
Just when I thought actress Terry Phetho couldn't get any prettier, she graces the cover of this month's Marie Claire South Africa and proves to me that, well, she can.

Bukki + Topshop
Bukki Ojo. 18 years old. She takes authentic Ankara and vintage denim and gives it an 80's inspired feel. Its like - Afropunk Magic. It comes to Topshop on the 15th July 2012.
I am beyond jealous.
{Below are some of the Topshop collab promo pictures as well as shots from her recent collection 'Afro'.}

Sunday Jam X Flamenco Sketches
Miles Davis - Flamenco Sketches (Kind of Blue 1959)
This is an amazing song; it reminds me of dad, who is an amazing man.
Happy Sunday.

The Great Gatsby
To say that I am excited for the release of this film is probably the understatement of the century ( I was going to say millenium but that seemed a tad dramatic).
Firstly, thank God it's being directed by Baz Lurhman (who also directed one of my all time favourite films Romeo and Juliet) who has always been able to beautifully portray novel to film adaptations, one can only hope that he will afford Fitzgerald's novel the same amount of respect. If the trailer is anything to go by, however, Great Gatsby is going to be all kinds of incredible.

Snapped by SithaKent
Leather Satchel: Topshop, Sheer Shirt: American Apparel, Blazer: Mr Price.
Right after my psych lecture dearest Sitha, mastermind behind the SithaKent Tumblr , asked for a pic.
What else could I do but put my hands by my waist and smile?
All silliness aside though, it kind of made my day.

The Envelope Clutch
Leonardo da Vinci said something about how simplicity is a paragon of sophistication. You never really understand that quote until you see items like these, simple and humble looking, but put to good use this envelope clutch can turn any hoodlum into a respectable member of society.

Super - Styling
This is Anelisa Mangcu, photographer and co-founder of Perfectly Tailored; this week she has been featured in Glamour South Africa's "Today I'm wearing" style diary where she's given everyone a sneak peek into her awesome clothes collection.
I admire her because (other than the fact that she is rocking those box braids and that hooped nose ring) she is young, super creative and super stylish, more importantly, she is a representative of my generation and of the many other creative Africans out there making a name for themselves. She is one of the many people that make me believe that -creatively speaking - my generation is on the precipice of something beautiful. How cool are we?!
Chek out her other looks HERE

You must know that I have only ever been to New York once before so I didn't really know where to go, and even if I did I hardly knew how to get there, insert Lisa Brown: fellow tutor/advisor to the team,New York enthusiast and 'missions co-ordinator'. We basically wanted to go to the same places and see the same things the only difference is she knew how to get there, so in essence I was just Sabu Mdee: excited, benevolent follower!
We 'missioned' to The Met one morning and just...sat. It was spring so the blossoms were out, the sky was clear and the breeze was crisp and fresh. I was having a semi-existential moment, you know, reflecting on life and how amazing it was that this kid from Lesotho was sitting on the steps of the Met building in New York City, New York. My existential moment was cut short because, honeslty, we were hungry and though the Met was amazing there were other super-amazing things waiting our arrival that day. Like Soho.
Friday Jam x Thundercat
"when it's just you and me, there's no place I'd rather be"
This is not a 'weapons of mass destruction' sign, this is Thundercat. And they're awesome.

Winter Wishlist
I've never been one for sneakers - don't get me wrong, I mean, I've always admired those that have had the wherewithal (i.e. swagger) to pull off an outfit with a decent pair of kicks.
But now all of a sudden I find myself coveting, not one, but a couple of sneakers! Whats going on? I don't know. I don't care. All I'm sure about now is that I want to be that cool kid with the dope kicks -
and these Nike Vintage Blazers would do just that.
They would take me from 0 to 60 on the cool-o-meter in seconds.
So this winter, vintage blazers are somewhere next to number one.

Childhood
Roald Dahl and Quentin Blake, a match made in literary heaven. These two men may never know how happy they made the younger me, Roald with his amazing stories and Quentin with the equally amazing illustrations that accompanied them. Childhood joy and creative (at times overactive) imagination I owe in part to these two.
Yeeaaahhh this is not fashion, its nostalgia. Allow me to indulge.

rebel without a cause
This is an editorial from Metal Magazine's March issue, thats about two years ago in fashion years, but I couldn't miss the opportunity of sharing such a-mazing photos with you all.
The two male models, Andrew Dunstan and Benoni Loos, seem to be channelling their inner Elvis Presley/James Dean. I love it.

Gluttony, n. Pronunciation: /ˈglʌtənɪ/ a. The vice of excessive eating. (One of the seven deadly sins.)
Used in a sentence: While in Chinatown Sabu ate so much, it was borderline gluttony.
Do you see where I am going with this? Hahaha.
Of course this night of gluttony would not have been possible without the help of my Model UN Team - it was a group effort.
You see that chicken on my plate? I finished that as well.
