MBFW: Cape Town

There are a lot of things I love about living in Grahamstown, a lot. But there are a few things I dislike as well, for instance, missing out on Fashion Week in Cape Town. Look, reality is even if I was living in Cape Town I don't have the social clout to get a ticket (well not yet, anyway!) BUT I would definitely gatecrash. I'm really good at gatecrashing.

Thanks to the team at a fashion friend I was able to take a look at what happened at various shows. The pictures are beautiful so they have kind of reduced my jealousy and depression, or they've increased it - depending on how you look at it.

Friday Jam x Settle Down

Kimbra - "Settle Down" (Live at Sing Sing Studios) from Forum5 Recordings on Vimeo.

I am so obsessed with this song right now, I can't tell you how many times I've played it this week alone. Kimbra also has hectic dance moves - I will no longer underestimate the funky dance ability of New Zealanders.

A 21st

completely aware that someone's trying to take a picture of me, I try to hide my face 'on a sly'.

Who came up with the idea of celebrating birthdays? Celebrating the beginning of a brand new life, a new being, a new mind into the world? I don't know. But we must give them thanks because it is due to them that, when the twenty first birthday of a close friend arrives we are able to wipe the dust off the six inch heels we never wear, iron the prostitute-like black mini dress our mothers don't know we own and apply that ruby red lipstick we never thought would see the light of day, or the artificial light of night. I did all this a month ago, all in celebration of a dear friend's coming of age - a friend who gets my very weird, very wacky ways.
She is the girl who seems to be taking a picture of you in the last photo.
This girl is epic, and so was her birthday dinner...and the party afterwards.

House of Maryanne

I am procrastinating. I'm just putting it out there before anyone thinks that this post was made during my free time - no it wasn't, the term has not started well and I am reverting to old bad habits, namely, when the tough gets going Sabu gets procrastinating.

House of Maryanne recently released their lookbook, the items are very preppy but carry the 'preppiness' with a truly vintage feel. I also love the soft, natural look to the two models, this lookbook is saying a lot without saying too much and I love that.
And I promise that after this post I will stop hiding behind my laptop and face the big bad world again.

Midweek Jam x Closer

This song makes me blush and dance all at the same time.

Tanzania (ish)

Yes. I recently came back from Tanzania and I miss it already, the humid air (which does wonders for the skin!), the delicious food, the greenery, the scenery, and of course my long lost-ish family.
I'm so excited to share the rest of the pictures with you but I'm waiting for all of them to be sent through so I can choose the best ones and post them. Hopefully this will all be done soon.

This was a picture I took at a local flea market, I wanted this painting but I didn't have enough money to buy it and the man selling wouldn't take down the price. *sigh* Oh well. Stay tuned for more!

Hello

I'm back! Well, I've been back for the past couple of days now and I've been wanting to post something but it was difficult - not because I don't have internet or anything (I'm back at school so that means relatively limitless internet, hoorah!) but because I just wasn't sure what to say. It's like meeting up with a a really good old friend after a long while, you have a lot to say to each other but neither knows where or how to begin. Yeah, that was me with the blog, or rather that was me with all of you.

But  I am over that now, I think the trick is to never over think it so in the spirit of underthinking I am going to post anything and everything that I've been wanting to show you, hoping that you might like it as well.

For example,  peach pair of Melissa Enjoying lace up brogue-like beauties. The colour reminds me of summer, they're edgy without trying too hard and I feel like they could go with almost any cool/casual outfit.

They definitely get my stamp of approval.

Loving the Crew

When 2bop's new crew neck sweats overdose on cool, so much so that you're wracking you're brain trying to figure out possible ways to get your hands on one. Thats what I'm currently going through.

Other than coveting things that I currently can't afford my holiday has been great and by "great" I mean, I do nothing and eat everything!
There are about eight days left till my family and I leave for Tanzania so I'm a very excited, chubby couch potatoe (:

The Europeans

While we pay attention to the collections inside the house - history is being made outside, usually by the spectators.
Photogropher Tommy Ton documents how the streets are styled in Europe.
