King Michael for your Friday

My week was filled with expletives; less those of confidence and self-punting and more those of frustration and extreme despondency. I thank God for instant pick me ups like Michael Jackson songs whose lyrics you know because your mother wouldn't stop playing his greatest hits album at a certain stage in your childhood. And I am always thankful for Fridays (and Friday drinks at Grotto Mojito).

Happy Weekend everyone, and enjoy the Michael throwback.

Why Miss Moss is Awesome

While the rest of us lie in our beds on Saturday afternoon eating (too many) Rascals, contemplating which romantic movie we are going to subject ourselves to that evening others, like Diana Moss of the inimitable Miss Moss Blog, are probably hard at work curating another wonderful comparison series for us to feast our eyes on.
Every single comparison series Miss Moss has done I have thoroughly enjoyed and this one's no exception.

Have you seen anything so beautiful? I know that if I even attempted making some sort of post about how 'one beautiful thing looks like another beautiful thing' it would probably end up looking a bit like this:

Disastrous. hahaha.
Luckily though, the world doesn't need to put up with my weird, failed attempts.

Lovers in the Parking Lot

As the self-proclaimed spokesperson of all things Solange a post about her on this blog is inevitable, especially now that she has (finally) released her music video for "Lovers in the Parking Lot". Co-produced by herself and The Creators Project this video, apart from the fact that "Lovers in the Parking" is now as beautiful to watch as it is to sing along to, taught me two things: 1) the True EP is one the best things to happen to the pop/alternative genre in a while and 2) dancing like Solange should be a general life goal;  by 'dancing like Solange' I do not mean trying (and subsequently, obviously ) failing to imitate those eighties inspired moves but instead dancing like you yourself are the star and producer of your own damn music video.

What was NYFW

Before we get carried away with the various current shows from London, lets step back and take a look at some of the shows that really stood out (well, for me anyway) in New York. Unless of course you are totally over NY and have no interest in talking about what past, which then makes this whole post really awkward.

Altuzarra:

3.1 Phillip Lim:

Proenza Schouler:

Victoria Beckham:

and last but not least, Prabal Gurung:

all shows were peeped here

Isn't it Ironic?

Funny story, I tore a ligament in my knee while walking down the stairs a few months ago - no I know its not  actually funny but it is highly amusing how the one person who detests any form of exercise or work out (me) happens to obtain one of the most common sports injuries. This is a twisted ironic joke the universe is playing on me (obvs) and I assume it's payback for all those gym memberships I joined but never actually went to (woops).

To make matters worse, my former fully-abled self would have never dreamt of wearing, purchasing or covetting any shoe more than 2 inches off the ground, but now, in the midst of this injury (and the subsequent limp-swagger-walk that comes with it) I find myself obsessing over heels. I guess its less about the idealistic glamour, boldness and romanticism that a high heeled shoe symbolises that's making me go crazy over them right now and more about the fact that - now that I really can't wear them, I really want them. Very funny universe, very funny.

Excuses, Places, Spaces.

It must have been annoying typing the long address to this blog (killing time, procrastinating etc) expecting something new and exciting, something recently discovered or recently shared and instead being confronted with old, tired posts I had published over a month ago. It must have been annoying and disappointing and for that I apologise. I'm sure you don't want to hear it (again) but I've been extremely busy and whenever I do have time I don't have energy and the result is this - cliched apologies over month long absences.

The best way to wipe the dust off this blog is to show you where I've been recently. Places, spaces, valued moments. Enjoy.
