Holiday Jam x Petite Noir

Petite Noir "Disappear" (Official Music Video) from Travys Owen on Vimeo.

I must be living under some giant rock because it is only recently that I found out about Petite Noir and about this track. The song is hot, the video is amazing and it would be so wrong not to share this with you all.
Also, I am going home tonight (Maseru, Lesotho) so that means my internet access will be...limited. Thus my posts will be sporadic and less than usual but here's crossing fingers to working modems and fully functioning internet cafes.
For now though, take care and be blessed!
And live life!

Love, Still.

I still love these images from Pop'Africana . Can't wait to see what Oroma and her team have in store for us in the future.
Oh yes, and I have finished my exams and I am beside myself with happiness (:

MidWeek Jam x N.E.R.D

I write my last exam tomorrow, and I will play N.E.R.D's "hot and fun" from their "Nothing" ablum in celebration. Almost two years later and this track is STILL a jam.

Valentino Resort '13

I am sure this is not the first time you have seen a post about Valentino's recent resort collection and I promise this won't be the last, it is that amazing.

Ten To Do

I'm busy with my exams, I'm sure you haven't noticed much. It seems other bloggers blog less when writing exams and I...blog more. Ahem. Well, moving on. These exams have me stressed yo?! And the problem with exams is that you get really tired and drained and you just want to set the world on fire (and not in a good way). So to keep myself going I wrote up a "Ten To Do Before I Die" list, its a list of all the things I (obviously) have to do before the day of reckoning and they range from lovely, self indulgent things like New York Fashion Week to more selfless acts like Changing Lives and Inpsiring People.
Its the little things (and God) that'll keep me going until my last paper people, the little things.
By the way, if you haven't done this already I suggest you do - it's really nice (:

Six Inch Problems

If I had the ankles and knees I would be that 'heel-wearing' girl, alas, the thought of anything above three inches causes both to quake.

Little Discoveries

I think one of the things I enjoy most is discovering new music. This month a friend of mine recommended I listen to Little Dragon. "Little Dragon?", I thought, "what kind of a name is that?  sounds more like a prime time show on cartoon network." I was wrong. Its not a cartoon, its a band, and they make amazing music, and they are awesome and I've been humbled.
Oh! And they're coming to South Africa later this year (:

Hello June

Grahamstown experienced one helluva cold front this past weekend, and my hometown (Maseru, Lesotho) revelled in snow and sleet. I love this season. But I miss seeing things like this. I guess if you can't see flowers, wear floral print?

Monday Jam x The Light

Today I have The Light on repeat from Common's 'Like Water for Chocolate' album. When I'm old and grey, I think I'll still listen to that song, and even maybe the whole album.

Le Glamour de Solange

I recently read one of Solange's tweets where she stated how she doesn't want to talk about her hair anymore, I totally agree with her. Granted her move to natural-ville was a statement, intentional or not, but I feel like there is so much more to her than her choice of hairstyle.
Lets talk about something else, like how amazing she looks in this month's Glamour France.
Holie Molie.

Having a lot of fun with my friend's camera this week.

If I Was A Rich Girl

If I had copious amounts of money, like the kind of money recent scam mail had reported I'd won, I think they claimed I had miraculously won around 900 000 pounds? Apparently my name was yeilded out of some random lucky draw, mmmmm...I believe in miracles and destiny but I also believe in corruption and scamming. And this was a clear example of the latter.
So lets just say I really did win the close to one million pounds (about 11 million rands), what would I buy?
All of the pieces from the recent DKNY '13 Resort Collection. I kid you not.
I don't give DKNY much attention, I mean, Donna and her team are a-mazing there is no doubt about that but...I've never had much interest, until now that is.
They have all the things I am going crazy over right now (short of chambray), sheer shirts, button ups, two toned shirts, tuxedos, high waist pleated pants (pegged), point toe pumps (in pastel, neurtal or metallic colours), leather shorts and skirts.
So to the people that tried to scam me into thinking I was a millionare the other day, thank you, you have illucidated the painful fact that many of the things I want right now I can't have. Thank you very much. Sincerely, not so stupid but slightly bitter fashion/life/things blogger.

Everyday.

Is it bad that I want to wear Chambray shirts every day? If I could I honestly would. I'm the kind of person who gravitates towards outfits that need minimum effort but yeild maximum result, and I believe the chambray shirt does just that. Its effortless and subtle feel is perfect for any season, you can button it down or right to the top (and pair it a with chunky gold necklace or collar piece) for a more edgier feel.
And to top it off - its really affordable, no colossal dent will be made in your pocket (depending on where you go) but you wear it feeling like a million, casual, edgy bucks.
Let's just wear chambrays people, everyday.

"In tune with cool..."

In her twenties she worked at Stussy in SoHo and hung out at Supreme. She hosts 90's [1992] themed parties that all the cool kids apparently go to (insert: theophilus london [close friend], kid cudi, Qtip, Jay, Beyonce). Creative consultant at Universal Def Jam. Wrote the treatment for Common's "Testify" video. Styled and modelled for Billionare Boys Club. First woman to design Nike Air Jordans. I really could go on but I honestly feel like you get the picture.

It Will End Soon

I know what you're thinking, "How to make it NY? Again?! When will this sh#! end?". It will end soon my friend, just be patient with me. You see I keep thinking I'm done showing you stuff and then I find cool photos I haven't shown you yet and then - well - I post them. But I think this will be the second last installation of the HTMY series, its been fun but I don't want to drag this out for too long, well, I do but that wouldn't be fair.
So the New York Subway; grimy, dirtty, gritty, and super cool. The problem is I have been watching american shows all my life, so much so that I can't not get excited when I arrive at the subway myself. I didn't want to be that irritatingly keen tourist who even takes photos of the train station but, alas, I was - and I don't regret it!
